Third-party Administrator (TPA)
Third-party administrators are organizations that provide claims processing and payment, customer service, network administration, and marketing services for employers or other group dental insurance plans that self-fund their dental insurance plan. A TPA does not assume the financial risk for the cost of claims. The TPA may be an insurance carrier that offers self-funding operations or a separate organization that provides these services through an administrative services only (ASO) contract.
